Character Name: Lovino Vargas

Appearance: 5’ 8” and slim of body, Lovino has short dark brown hair with – despite his best efforts to get it to lay flat – a long curly hair stemming from the center of his forehead. His eyes are an olive green, and he prefers to wear casual, inexpensive but flattering clothing, wanting to look good whenever he takes a step outside and not wanting to look as lazy as he can sometimes be.

Mutant Abilities: Has the ability to make fire grow, shrink or even change shape if he’s focusing on it, and can’t be burned by a fire he is manipulating, although he can’t generate a flame by himself and will get burned by a flame not under his mental control. The closer to a fire he is, the better chance he has of better getting it to bend to his will, although he’s never attempted to manipulate a flame that’s out of his sight. Sexuality: Bisexual, but has no true relationship experience

Personality: Lovino is rude, short-tempered, moody and distrustful to the majority of people he meets, preferring to separate himself from other people rather than get close to them and be hurt once they discover he’s a mutant and reject him - or send him off somewhere to fight. The only exception to this is when he’s interacting with a woman, to whom he’ll often show a more charming side of himself, though he still is reluctant to form close bonds. Despite his tough-guy attitude and his tendency to be vulgar no matter his actual mood, he’s both sensitive and a coward. If the fight is for something that matters to him, he’ll fight, but more often than not he prefers to turn tail and run when the going gets tough.

A hobby-artist as well as working at a local café, he enjoys being able to relax and not worry about too much. He also loves to cook, and grows tomato plants off the small balcony of his apartment. He tells himself he likes his current life, although loneliness and a want of tolerance are things that creep up in his mind more and more as the years go by.

Background:
Lovino grew up in New York City and for the most part didn’t have a bad childhood, being the son of two Italian immigrants who ran – and still run – a pizza and pasta restaurant downtown. He was about three years old when it was discovered that he could manipulate fire, an ability that made his parents worry about his future. While growing up, he was repeatedly told how he should never reveal the ability to anyone, and that it wouldn’t ever do him any good anyways. It was a lesson the boy took to heart and did his very best to never forget.

In addition to this, however, he would often hear his parents late at night talk about how he was a danger to himself and others particularly as he grew into his teens –stubborn and somewhat clumsy as he grew - as well as questioning over what should be done with him. An offer from his parents eventually came for him to be admitted into a special school for mutants, but the young Lovino refused to go, by that point coming to see his ability as nothing good. His parents, though seemingly a little disappointed that he wasn’t going anywhere, expressed how they were proud of his decision to continue being normal despite his ‘condition’.

When he graduated high school, he started work as a cook at a nearby café (working with Alfred) and got an inexpensive apartment, not feeling the need to go to college. His parents, sympathizing with his preference towards mostly keeping to himself - although wanting him to go to college and push himself a little - give him extra money to support him whenever he needs it, so long as he also comes back to work at their place when he can and continues to strive for normality.

Probably on the floor for a little while, though the two of 'em can snag a couch or futon. My thoughts were that Lovi's just previously not exactly had people staying over for very long before, so he hasn't felt the need for a couch very much. XD
