Haunted Houses and Ghoulish Ghosts [Closed] Empty

((Closed for Tino and Elizaveta))

It was around 10 when she flopped onto her couch, grabbing the remote and switching on the TV. Bright light filled the dark living room and she squinted her eyes, groaning and leaning up to switch on a little lamp just next to her. Grabbing the remote once more, she began skimming through channels, desperately hoping to find something interesting on. Of course, when she didn't, she sighed and slipped off the couch, sauntering over to her kitchen to slam her head on the kitchen table.

She was unbelievably and unbearably bored. Which she didn't expect to happen so soon, seeing how the haunted house just a few blocks down had recently reopened - some rumors about it truly being haunted had run off business, so with a few minor adjustments to the place and a few years to let the gossip settle, the neighborhood haunted house had reopened, just like that. Besides, it was ridiculous that so many people had believed such rumors - as if ghosts seriously existed.

She loved haunted houses - they were never scary, ever. Either someone went too overboard and ended up looking hilarious, or they didn't go far enough and ended up looking hilarious; either way, it was a good laugh. In fact, Elizaveta was dying to visit this house, to see if it would seriously be worth the remodeling and extra hundreds of dollars they had used to make it "scarier". However, there was no way she was going by herself - no, that would never work. And it wasn't because she didn't like the dark or ghosts or stuff like that, no. It was just more fun with somebody; better to share a laugh with - yep, that was it.

She slid off the chair and walked over to the window, moving a blind to peer out at the house. The house that existed at least a 30 minutes walk away. The house whose lights shut off and doors slammed shut as the people manning the building left for the night - their curfew was always at 10 P.M. The house that, with its mangled roof and broken shudders, gave her the perfect idea. She would need a friend, of course, because she'd never go by herself - wanted to share a laugh, you know? But...with the perfect supplies and the ideal person, exploring might not be that bad...

Yes - that was the plan. Exploring a haunted house at 10 at night would definitely chase away her boredom. Now all she had to was find somebody to go with; flipping open her cell, she smiled, pressing numbers. As soon as the ringing echoed from the device, she put the phone to her ear and waited - and as soon as his voice greeted her, she replied, "Hey, I just had a splendid idea..."

Haunted Houses and Ghoulish Ghosts [Closed] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Haunted Houses and Ghoulish Ghosts [Closed]   Haunted Houses and Ghoulish Ghosts [Closed] I_icon_minitimeMon Mar 18, 2013 2:21 am

The small pitter-pats of the little white dog's paws padded quietly on the pavement as both the dog, and it's master made their way home after a nice, long walk. It was getting late, and he wanted to get inside his nice, warm home before it got too late. As he drew nearer, he thought of what he'd do once he got inside. First, he'd grab himself a nice cup of coffee, and a book, then relax by the fire with his dog, Hanatamago. He hummed cheerfully to himself as he stepped onto the porch and rummaged through his pocket for the keys - a task that didn't take too long. Once he grabbed the right key, he used it to open the door before placing it back in his pocket and taking off Hanatamago's leash so she could run inside, excited to be home after her walk.

Making some coffee and grabbing a book didn't take too long, and within minutes he was relaxing by the fire, dog in his lap as he softly pet her with a free hand as he flipped pages with the other. The book he'd gotten was an old one, one he'd picked up from the library only the day before. It was a mystery novel, about some detective woman that went around, solving strange and mysterious crimes. He'd just gotten to the part where the heroine finds her first clue when his phone rang. Startled by the sudden noise, he dropped his book, losing his place as he managed to retrieve his phone out from his pocket and press the 'talk' button. He smiled when he recognized the voice of one of his good friends, Elizaveta.

Over the phone, she told him about an idea she'd had to go visit the Haunted House after hours. Although he wouldn't admit it, the idea of being in there with just the two of them made him feel uneasy. It didn't take much convincing to get him to agree, though. Uneasy or not, Tino absolutely loved scary things - even though they sometimes resulted in a nightmare.

He hung up the phone with a quick 'see you in a bit' and headed over to the front door to put his shoes back on, as a curious Hanatamago watched from her spot by the fireplace. "I'll be back later!" he assured his beloved pet. "Be good." he added as he grabbed his knapsack - just in case - and headed out the door.

The walk to the Haunted House didn't take too long, and soon Tino found himself waiting by the bushes near the front entrance with a flashlight. After a few minutes with no sign of his friend, he glanced at his watch, wondering what was taking so long. She lived a little closer to the place than he did, so she should have been there first. As he thought about this, he heard a noise from the bushes. He took a few steps away from it, shakily pointing the flashlight at the bush. "H-Hello?" he called out, unsure.

She dashed into her room, leaving the door open as she changed from long ankle-brushing sweats into jean shorts that hugged her thighs. Grabbing a cami, she quickly removed her graphic tee and flung the fabric on, taking a quick look in the mirror to make sure the creamy color contrasted nicely with her skin tone before dashing out of the room, slipping into her black Converse and throwing a light black jacket over her shoulders. With everything set, she grabbed her phone, slid it into the back-pocket of her jeans, and was out of the house in the space of five minutes. New record, she thought with a grin.

She was glad for the jacket, because despite the fact that spring had finally hit, the chilly winds of winter still raged, nipping at naked shoulders and legs whenever possible. This was the case for tonight; rubbing her thighs, Elizaveta had the striking question of why the hell she had decided to leave so fast; she could've spent some time actually choosing something warm instead of wearing something that could attract a cold. It wasn't like the building was going to stand up and walk to some other corner - nor would Tino arrive there immediately like some speed demon. Biting her lip and cringing when another gust of wind blew through her frame, she gritted through the racing goosebumps, keeping her eyes on the in-the-distance-building that lingered on the horizon.

And it wasn't until she heard the rolling of loose gravel behind her that she froze. Still rubbing her legs and hoping to create warm friction, she looked over her shoulder; nothing, of course. Because if something was following her, it would be much too convenient if it was within sight. Grumbling under her breath, she turned back and continued her walk, adding a brisk pace to it now that set her mental-alarms on alert. This time the snapping of a stick - not too terribly close, but close enough that it meant someone was indeed trailing after the nation. The only thought that seemed sensible to Elizaveta, once hearing the snap of the branch, was the one that protruded from her brain like an abnormal limb. Run.

And run she did - sprinting as if her life depended on it, she scaled sidewalk and brush, ignoring the houses that lay in dormant silence around her. All that mattered was the figure that moved after her, the culprit of the stick-snapping and the gravel-rattling. Her breath came in ragged pants as her feet slapped against the cement, causing an echo to fill the quiet space around her. Seconds turned into agonizing minutes as she neared the house, vision dancing with the horrid imaginings of what could be behind her - a serial killer, rapist, or something along the lines. None of them sounded like something she wanted to meet at 10:32 at night.

It wasn't until she stood on property belonging to the haunted house that she stopped, regaining her breath and glancing behind her. Nothing; a chill ran along her arms. Why did that not reassure her? She sucked in another breath, looking around the decrepit landscaping - broken shards of glass littered the lawn, fake Styrofoam gravestones protruded from the yellowed grass, even gray bony fingers stretched from the blades of vegetation, extending like a hungry maw to catch something passing by. It all looked kiddish, something that forced a giggle from Veta. And soon enough, without accord, she was laughing - laughing at all of it; the fact that she had been scared being the most prominent of them all. As if something would seriously follow after her...

She made her way over to the nearest bush, brushing the fronds aside and sitting down in it. Sure, it was a bit weird and whatnot, but even though she was all alone out here, she didn't want anything or anyone getting any ideas when setting eyes on her; if anything even lingered out in the night. Shivering, she clutched her knees, staring up at the open space in the plant; the stars glittered serenely, blinking like little pinpricks of light in a dark blanket. It was simply gorgeous - until the familiar beam of a flashlight stretched over her hiding place. As another gust whipped through, she grinned, slipping to her hands and knees; blades of grass reached up to poke her palms and tickle her wrists. The bush rustled and shook as she pawed her way out, flopping to the grass with an untidy huff. Blinking, she looked up at the flashlight-gripping nation, still grinning as she greeted, "Boo."

PostSubject: Re: Haunted Houses and Ghoulish Ghosts [Closed]   Haunted Houses and Ghoulish Ghosts [Closed] I_icon_minitimeTue Mar 26, 2013 1:48 pm

Tino felt his heart race wildy as the bush shook even more, and something began to crawl out. He took a few steps back, ready to flee at any moment. He gripped the flashlight tighter, his hands shaking as whatever it was revealed itself - or rather herself - and grinned up at him. He let out a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding, and sighed in relief, feeling silly for getting frightened so easily.

He playfully scowled at her, struggling to keep himself from smiling. It didn't last long, and soon the smile he'd held in made itself known as he greeted his friend. "Veta, you startled me!" he said with a chuckled, bending down a little to offer a hand to help her to her feet. "How long have you been waiting here?" he asked, giving her a quick hug once she was back on her feet. "Why were you sitting in that bush...?" he questioned, only just realizing how strange it was for someone to sit in a bush. Although who was he to call it strange? He was always doing, and trying, weird things either on his own, or with his friends.

He was scowling at her - and at first, she thought she had gone too far. Maybe hiding in a bush at around 10:46 and jumping out to greet a friend just wasn't such a good idea - in fact, she had expected something a little friendlier than this show of emotions.

Until, however, the facade faded and was promptly replaced by a contagious smile and a good-natured chuckle. She laughed nervously, brushing a strand of hair out of her face as he swept her into a quick hug. "I didn't mean to scare you~" she said, giggling and standing back with a little bounce quickening her steps. She couldn't hide the cheerfulness that filled her as she surveyed her friend - such a cheerful person himself, she couldn't help but take slices of that optimistic personality of his.

"I haven't been waiting long either, so don't worry~" she said, smiling and rubbing her arms. Glancing everywhere but Tino's face as she answered, "And...the bush...well, you see, someone was following me, so I thought it would be safer if I just hid and waited for you to arrive..." She giggled nervously - really, if she thought back on it, it was such a stupid thing to do; hiding in a bush...could she have been anymore idiotic?

"So! Should we get started?" She clapped her hands, spinning around to face the house - the boarded and locked up abandoned-looking building. And, slipping her hands into her pocket, she slowly and effortlessly pulled out her favorite invention since TV - a lock-picking set.

PostSubject: Re: Haunted Houses and Ghoulish Ghosts [Closed]   Haunted Houses and Ghoulish Ghosts [Closed] I_icon_minitimeThu Apr 04, 2013 1:10 pm

Tino's smile disappeared, a look of worry quickly taking its place. "Someone was following you?" he asked, just to make sure he hadn't heard her wrong. "Are they still around? Or did they leave?" he looked around them, moving his flashlight over the shadowed areas to check and make sure there wasn't anyone there. A stranger following a woman - especially a young, attractive one like Elizaveta - at night was very suspicious, and very worrying.

After he was sure there was no one in the surrounding area, he turned back to his friend and nodded. "Alright, let's go!" he said, his worry being replaced by excitement. He was a little surprised when she pulled out what he assumed were some items for picking the locks, but with a chuckle, he realized that they wouldn't really be able to get in any other way. Leave it to Elizaveta to have such things he thought, amused by her preparedness.

They were ready to go, and Tino was excited and anxious to get started with their 'night of terror'. That is, until he noticed her rubbing her arms from the cold. "Veta, where's your jacket?" he asked, looking back at the bush to see if she'd dropped it there. Seeing none, he removed his own and offered it to her. "Here, take mine. I'm good with the cold, so it's really no trouble."

Ever since he was young, Tino had had a high tolerance for cold weather. Not only did he tolerate it; he liked it. It reminded him of when he was younger and would play in the snow, not caring about the chill nipping at his nose. It reminded him of his home, where the winters were long and freezing.

With the issue of the cold settled, he headed over to the entrance of the place, moving aside so that Elizaveta could work her magic on the lock. He was a little curious as to why she had a lock picking set, but he didn't question it. Something told him he was better off just not knowing.

She gratefully took Tino's jacket, flinging it over her shoulders and brightly smiling up at him. He was so sweet, sometimes she just couldn't say no. And besides...it's not like he got cold anyway. It was like he was some damn fireplace in a human body~ Which would be somewhat interesting if it were true...

The door swung inward, gently slamming against the wall and slowly coming to a stop before her. With a wide grin, she turned around and, sliding the lock pick set into her pocket, beamed up at Tino. "Ready for this?" With that, she spun around and took a small step into the house, entering the dark as midnight hall and quickly peering around. She wasn't sure if Tino would follow after her with as much springing vigor, so, turning around again, she extended her hand and gestured for him to follow. "C'mon, I've been waiting for an opportunity like this forever!!!"

((Sorry, it's kind of short, wanted it to be a small post before everything gets exciting~ ^^" And I'm sooo sorry, its taken me this long to reply!!!!))
