Enough Time for Two [Closed] Empty

This RP takes place after the first briefing of 'Mission: Sunset Patrol', after the Head Hunter has given them some time to prepare.

***

Feliciano sighed, shouldering his gear and making his way to one of the many pubs that lined the streets. The meeting had dragged on for him, and he had made sure to be one of the first out the door once the Head Hunter had dismissed them. He hated being confined, forced to sit in a stuffy room with people that clearly wanted nothing to do with him. He knew it was his duty, his job to protect them regardless of their like or dislike of him. But still, he could not help but want to get away, to put as much distance between himself and the others as possible until he absolutely had to meet them for the mission. He chose a pub, not because he intended to get drunk, but because the unfamiliar faces (even if mixed with familiar ones), would give him some escape. Most would be wary of his uniform, but Feliciano would simply interact with them as if he was in his regular clothes.

He entered the pub, waving cheerfully to several of the patrons that lined the walls. Though it was a little early for the heavier drinkers of the evening and night, the place was still fairly full. Feliciano assumed that most people had come at the early hour to eat rather than to drink, though he noticed quite a few mugs atop wooden tables as he passed. He made straight for the counter, intent on seating himself on one of the many wooden stools that lined the polished wood. Though he rarely used his status as Hunter for anything other than the job itself, he knew that close to the keep he would have little to no one approach him to ridicule his lifestyle choice. Feliciano normally took such jabs at his job in stride, laughing or at worst, buying the man a drink for being so honest. But that night, the mission weighed on his shoulders, heavier than his equipment. He was not entirely sure he could handle anyone making negative remarks about the Hunters that night.

He took a seat on one of the end stools, sighing softly. The burly man behind the bar glanced in his direction, then gruffly slid him a menu. Feliciano glanced over its contents for a moment, stifling another sigh. None of the pubs made decent pasta, which saddened him. Pasta dishes reminded him of his fratello, whom he missed dearly. He decided on a sandwich and a glass of water, probably the safest thing that involved the least amount of cooking. The man grunted and walked off to fill his order, and Feliciano did his best to ignore the stares leveled at his back. He waited patiently, twiddling his fingers nervously. He hoped the man would not take long, though he truly had nothing to do other than stew in his nerves until the designated meeting time for the mission.

((My apologies for this taking so long Luddy! If this isn't right or if you want me to add a rating or something, lemme know and I'll edit it! Also, random title is random/lame...but yeah, referring to drinking, perhaps (even though Feli isn't drinking right now XD)? Ah brain...what things you do at 12AM))

He wasn't looking forward to anything that was going on that day. Ludwig never had any love for group missions. Not that he's going to complain about it anytime soon, but it was just... very uncomfortable for him. He's had his fair share of group missions in the past. He didn't know if it was just his bad luck or whether group missions were really ineffective, but most of his experience with teams did not end so well.

The Hunters were composed of a variety of personality and background; but they don't always mix nicely. There was always that one person that ruins it for everybody and Ludwig was not 'equipped' with the capacity to deal with it. And unfortunately he has to deal with it most of the time, because he almost always ended up being the leader. Sometimes Ludwig just loathes his natural talent at leadership.

Ludwig walked briskly down the road. His overcoat flapping noisily against the wind. He had just met with Antonio to inform him about the mission. Another thing that he wasn't looking forward to was the dispatch of a fairly large amounts of Hunters into the forest. He hoped in his heart that vampires were all they encountered. Things could get very bad, very quickly if any werewolf were involved. It was a good thing he had known the alpha. At the very least he could prevent it being an unwanted surprise for the werewolves.

Now that he's done what he could, all he wanted to do was find a drink. His eye caught a particularly inviting pub and his feet doubled their speed towards it. He wasn't going to get drunk, not before a mission. Ludwig was just looking to get a bit loose to be ready for the mission. He tucked his hands inside his pockets and walked into the pub.

Not a lot of customers were there. He reminded himself that it was too early for people to drink. Ludwig noticed that some of the patrons were staring at him. He knew they were staring at his uniform and he couldn't care less. After a long time with the Hunters, he's gotten used to the stares. He ignored them and made his way to the counter. The bartender wasn't there, he was probably at the back with an order. He saw a few customers sitting at the counter and he spotted familiar figure with auburn hair was sitting on one of the stools. He noticed that he was a fellow Hunter. Ludwig wasn't that good with faces, especially with someone he's just met and in this case it was particularly hard to know who he was since the man was also facing the other way.

He didn't really give it much of a thought and took a sit a couple of stools away, careful to put some distance between him and the other Hunter. Ludwig wasn't looking forward to have any conversations, so he was glad when the bartender finally came out from the back. "I'll have a pint of beer," he said to the man. Ludwig couldn't wait for the sweet taste of beer.

((*begs for forgiveness*I AM TOTALLY SORRY FOR THE TOTALLY LATE REPLY! Graduating has more paperwork than I thought -___-" ))

As he waited, the air in the room seemed to change. He had never been quite adept at reading people, but on occasion he could simply feel changes as easily as if they were changes in weather. He resisted the urge to glance over his shoulder, not wanting to shift the attention of the room back to himself. Apparently, whoever entered through the doors was a more interesting person than he was. Feliciano simply waited, fiddling with his hands and hoping the man would return with his food soon. The less attention he drew to himself in the end, the better off he would be. A few moments later, the door in the back swung open, and the burly man returned with his meal. The plate and glass were set in front of him with two soft thunks, and the man retreated a little ways down the counter before Feliciano could properly thank him. He turned his attention to the plate in front of him, glad for the distraction. At least now, he could focus on eating, rather than on the stares that had returned to settle on his back.

He examined the sandwich, then took a hesitant bite. The staleness of the bread made him frown, and the meat was not the freshest. He continued to eat in silence, pausing occasionally to take a sip of his water to wash away the taste. Feliciano had tasted worse food in his lifetime. The rations the Hunters provided were bland, nearly tasteless in comparison to the sandwich in front of him. He often removed them from his pack, instead adding in foods he actually could stomach. But he refrained from commenting on the poor quality of the meal. The pub had clearly seen better days, so he knew better than to eat his food with such high expectations. He was not rich as a Hunter, as some people seemed to believe, but he did use his pay to dress well and to provide himself with decent-quality food. If he had to have any luxuries, those were the ones he chose.

"I'll have a pint of beer."

Feliciano nearly choked on his water. His gaze shot to a few stools down, where a tall, familiar blond rigidly sat. He recognized the blond as a fellow Hunter, one he had seen at the meeting not even an hour ago. He coughed quietly a few times, trying not to draw attention to himself. 'Isn't he going on the mission with us in a couple of hours? Why would he order beer? I mean, it's only a pint, but still! He could get in really big trouble for that, especially if another Hunter finds out! I mean, I'm not going to say anything, but what if another Hunter, like the Head Hunter comes in and sees him drinking before the mission?' His thoughts raced as he cleared his throat, trying to be as noiseless as possible. Should he tell the blond off for drinking? Should he pretend he hadn't heard? Feliciano knew it truly was not his business, but if the blond ended up in his group, he would be somewhat responsible.

He bent lower over his sandwich, deciding not to comment. The blond ordered a single pint, and unless he was a complete lightweight, would otherwise be fine. If the beer was anything like the food, Feliciano surmised it would take far more than anyone's regular amount to even borderline becoming slightly intoxicated. The low quality of the beer made the stale taste of the bread stand out on his tongue again, and he quickly swallowed the rest of his water. He glanced around for the barkeep, slumping a little in his stool when he could not find the man. He would have to wait until he returned from the back to ask for another glass of water. As he waited, he stole glances over at the stoic blond, quickly looking away nervously after a few seconds.

((*squishes Luddy with love* No worries~! Congratulations on your epic graduation~! <333 And don't mind Feli...he's just trying not to draw too much attention...but he'll be glad to talk to Luddy super soon~! Also the text in the middle is quoted from yours~ ^^))
